Interactive Experiments              close window

A group of interactive excercises I did in 2001 when Flash 5 was released. The purpose was to have fun, be creative and learn actionscripting. I had hoped to make Flash-based games and needed to hone my coding skills.

Though they are very much dated now, enjoy.

The 'squids' swim around the tank in a random manner. Occasionally, they will sense your presence and swarm around you. By clicking the mouse you can make them protect you - clicking again will send them away.

Discover the menu at the bottom that allows you to manufacture new 'squids' by adding tails and changing general properties.

Subtract a squid to see it go screaming into the void.
I am still considering making a game out of this. The plane reacts beautifully and the laser tracking system is accurate. The challenge came when I had to create the 'bad guys'.

Check back in the future.. this one might make it to the production line.
This was a tough one. The 'stem' of the device is actually many different nodes which all react to make it look connected. To create the desired effect took much time and code optimization.

The image on the right is the view from the side and a programming error created the neat effect it gives.
Grab a node and toss it. Turn gravity off and click on the bounce control button to see the elasticity of the balls increase. A silly - but fun - time waster.
